Clair Obscur Triumphs at the 2025's Golden Joystick Ceremony
The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded on Thursday, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. This breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Enhancing the developer's success, the skilled performers also received personal awards. Jennifer English received Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its makers collected seven awards throughout the show.
Additional major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only 4 special—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by reviewers.
