Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their roles in the new Hunger Games instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
Reports indicate that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
An Important Comeback for the Franchise
The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their appearance will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, as the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This signifies the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The film welcomes several notable actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
